Teetottlers NOT WELCOME

Dear all

In anticipation of wednesdays drink-fest, I have pre-purchased a 16 Year old Isle of Jura for 45 quid. Note that the "normal" Isle of Jura is a ten year old, with the 16 described as follows:

"Stong Spicy Sweet. Isle of Jura 16 Years Old single malt scotch whisky reflects its location on the edge of the Atlantic giving a hint of a sea breeze."

I hope its worth the money, although by looking at some of the other whiskys in the store (port ellen, 22 yo, Talisker 22 yo, Lagavulin 12 yo Cask strength) I have my doubts.

Anticipation

WOO! Great work Jim, we're rolling now. I for one can't wait to sample some fine whisky. Really hope this takes off - it's an open forum so we hope people bring their suggestions for the format. I'm sure it'll evolve into a superb complementary relaxation method alongside Jim Mullaney's Friday night relaxers.

Looking forward to some good company, chat and whisky.

Rob

First meeting

Dear Whisky Lovers,

The time has come for the first meeting of the Astro Whisky Club. Here are
the details:

Where?
Jim's House: 4 Mowbray Street, Durham
(near Viaduct, but see map at http://whiskyclub.blogspot.com)
My phone number is (see mail)

When?
This Thursday (23rd) 8pm (after dinner, but there will be
'nibbles' on offer)

How much is this going to cost me?

We were thinking #7 each, to be paid to the Treasurer (Noam) in
advance (if possible). This will cover: 2 bottles of whisky + some tasty
(probably salted) treats. Any undrunk whisky will form part of a
library of whisky to which we can return at later dates (should a
particular type tickle your fancy).

Details of the first whisky:

We aim to start the whisk(e)y world tour in Islay... two bottles
thereof (to be decided).

RSVP:

To give some impression of numbers, please let us know if you can
make it.

Yours,

Jim, Rob, Greg & Noam
